Le monument en mort
The project to build a memorial to soldiers who died during the First World War dates back to 1922. It was on this date that the municipality called upon the Angérien architect G. Brodeau, who drew up the plans and specifications. In July 1822, the construction of the monument was entrusted to the contractor Massion and the installation of the fence was entrusted to the contractor Guillot-Pelletier. This fence was removed and replaced by the current one following the redevelopment of the area surrounding the monument. The war memorial, located on the square at the entrance to the castle, takes the form of an obelisk set on two square platforms. The lower part of the obelisk bears commemorative plaques and the column above is carved with the 1914-1918 War Cross and an olive branch. The sides are decorated with wreaths of foliage. The surrounding area is marked out by concrete blocks linked together by a chain.
