La chapelle de Saint-Léger
On the site of the Chapel of Saint-Léger, a memorial stone was erected in 2006, topped by a cross added in 2007, bearing the inscription: ‘On this route to Santiago de Compostela, the Chapel of Saint-Léger once stood on this spot’ and adorned with a coat of arms featuring a wild boar, an acorn with an oak leaf, and a scallop shell. Designed by Mr Denis Chapacou, in keeping with the village’s geographical and historical context, the scallop shell marks the route to Santiago de Compostela, whilst the wild boar represents the emblem of all the Saint-Léger villages in France, Belgium and Switzerland. The acorn and oak leaf are a reminder of the nearby forest. The stele was sculpted by Joseph Trojet and the iconographic reproduction was created by Serge Dreuilh.
