It's a great idea for a family outing.Circuit through the streets of the village The village of Matha as we know it today is the result of the merger, in 1818, of the former communes of Matha-Marestay and Saint-Hérie. The river l'Antenne runs through the village from north to south, giving it a landscape of farmland and woodland. The river rises at Fontaine Chalendray, to the north-east of Matha, and flows into the River Charente on the border between Cognac and Saint-Laurent de Cognac. The town has all the public, educational, cultural and sporting facilities, as well as a full range of shops, making it the administrative centre of the canton.
