Romanesque church dating from the 12th century, altered in the 15th century with the addition of a rose window and a ribbed nave with 8 ribs. The doorway bears the date 1788, but the façade still bears traces of an earlier doorway. In 990, Achard, son of Ebbon, Count of Poitou, founded a Benedictine priory at Dœuil, which was placed under the control of the Abbey of Saint-Cyprien de Poitiers, created in 828 by Pepin. The current church, dedicated to Notre-Dame de l'Assomption, dates from the 12th century. It was built by the monks of the priory, like its neighbour Saint-Étienne-la-Cigogne. It is fortified and has refuge chambers above the apse and nave. Tall, beautiful blind arches adorn the base of the bell tower. Inside, in two blind arcatures in the apse that were originally covered in plaster, the remains of a 14th-century mural depicting the Crucifixion have been found. Only the feet of Christ are still visible. One of the two bells, dated 1785, is a listed historic monument. The church was included in the Supplementary Inventory of Historic Monuments in 1935.
