Micro-Folie invites you to a talk by pianist and writer Patrick Scheyder on the history of ecology through the figures of Leonardo da Vinci and Georges Sand. Whether out of artistic interest, scientific concern or environmental consideration, artists have been defenders of nature since the Renaissance. Their works bear witness to biodiversity and to places that have disappeared or been transformed; Leonardo da Vinci's botanical plates are good examples, as are the paintings of the landscape painters of the Barbizon School. The latter, with the support of Georges Sand, led to the creation of the world's first nature reserve to protect the forest of Fontainebleau. PATRICK SCHEYDER is a professional pianist who creates shows combining music and nature. His creations are rooted in the texts and works of artists who developed ecological thinking at a time when the concept did not yet exist: Leonardo da Vinci, Georges Sand, Jean de La Fontaine.... He has published several works, including Des jardins et des hommes and Pour une pensée écologique positive, and is co-signatory of the Cultural Ecology manifesto. Because ecology is not just a scientific and political concern, he wants to make it accessible through culture and sensitivity.
